FOOD AND HOTELS: ITALIAN-MADE LUXURY AND TASTES ON DISPLAY

Italian hotels have always guaranteed quality of service, absolute comfort and pleasant hospitality.
If you then add to this the enviable opportunity of enjoying traditional recipes of Mediterranean cuisine, made perhaps with extra virgin olive oil, durum wheat semolina pasta, Sicilian Pachino tomatoes and Taggiasca olives from the Ligurian Riviera, together with a nice glass of white or red wine from the vineyards of Tuscany, Friuli or Campania, you will soon have all the ingredients of a dream holiday in Italy.
This is the atmosphere that the Italian companies taking part in the Food and Hotel Asia Show in Singapore from April 20th to 23rd will be trying to create.
The 57-member collective, co-ordinated by the Italian Trade Commission and divided into two separate pavilions for food producers and hotel and kitchen equipment exhibitors, is determined to maintain the high standards of quality that have produced substantial commercial results.
Imports of Italian-made food and wine products to Singapore have in fact increased considerably in recent years: confectionery holds the record (up 152.5%), followed by fruit and vegetables (up 36%), coffee (up 25%) and wine (up 22.3%).
Singapore is also considered an important market, being a regional hub and occupying a strategic position as the gateway to south-east Asia.
More specifically, the Italian companies view the Food and Hotel Asia show as a first-rate showcase due to the impressive figures for its 2010 edition. It will cover an exhibition area of 82,000 m² and involve the participation of 2,800 international exhibitors from over 20 different countries.
The companies from the hotel sector, housed in the non-food pavilion, will also arouse a lot of interest. It is an occasion not to be missed for visitors and industry operators to view state-of-the-art equipment for large kitchens, made with the highest quality materials, such as stainless steel, and equipment for the catering sector in general (including dining room service, the pride of good hotels).
Also included are the industrial cleaning sector, which makes all the difference in regard to the satisfaction of hotel guests, and that of bathroom accessories, in which the greatest care is taken over the use of the highest quality materials (cotton for bathrobes and the best brands of cosmetics) as well as the “branding”. Finally, there are the so-called courtesy products, those pleasant “extras” that enhance a stay in a hotel, such as shower caps, a travel toothbrush kit and sponges for cleaning your shoes.
A journey to Italy can therefore also begin from Singapore, with the best of traditional Italian food and hospitality on display at the Food and Hotel Asia show.
