HIGH QUALITY PROFESSIONAL INSTRUMENTS. THE BEST OF THE ITALIAN BIOPHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY ON SHOW IN BOSTON
A visit to the United States, the world’s leading player in the field of biopharmaceuticals, to deliver expertise, high quality instruments and Italian-made products. This is the challenge facing the group of companies due to participate in the 2012 edition of the Bio International Convention, to be held in Boston from June 18th to 21st.
The new Italian Trade Commission, the agency dedicated to internationalizing Italian companies and promoting their interests abroad, has collaborated with the sector’s association, Assobiotec, to bring together a collective for this event. It will consist of about 20 companies, amongst the most experienced in the sector, who will be fielding the very best they have to offer.
The lion’s share is allocated to the pharmaceutical sector, involving Italy’s largest and most important companies in terms of research and development, and with a particular emphasis on products used in anti-cancer therapy, and integrators such as melatonin. This is, in fact, the leading sector, and the reason why so many Italian companies (including those operating as technological hubs) are so admired abroad. It was therefore fitting they should provide the main focus at the Bio International Convention. But there will be no lack of other ideas for anyone visiting the Italian stands, including associations involved in promoting companies within the domestic market.
This is all with the purpose of network-building: creating new opportunities to form relationships and, above all, to do business. The United States have always dominated the biotech industry, thanks to the ready availability of risk capital and an economic system which facilitates and rewards entrepreneurship. The performance data for the sector confirm a slow but consistent recovery in what remains the world leader in the biopharmaceutical market, consisting of 1,754 companies, of which 371 are quoted on the stock exchange, with over 120,000 employees and capitalization to the value 380 billion dollars. To be able to work with expert and demanding local operators at the sector’s most prestigious international event, and in the context of one of North America’s major bio-clusters, is an opportunity that the Italian companies do not wish to miss out on.
The objective of the Italian participants will be to have direct meetings with buyers, explaining the factors which have made the Italian biotech sector so successful, such as its wealth of skilled human capital, and its pioneering instrumentation, leading to the issue of new patents. These opportunities will definitely make the difference at the Bio International Convention.
The 2011 edition of the fair took place in Washington from May 4th to 6th. It covered an area of 200,000 m² and involved more than 2,400 companies; also welcoming over 15,600 visitors, from 65 different countries and 48 American states. It is hoped that these impressive figures will be matched and even exceeded at the 2012 event. As usual, the attractiveness of the Italian brand will do the rest, together with the positive approach of those manning the stands.
