MILAN, ENVIRONMENT AND HOUSE
Rome - (Adnkronos Multimedia) - Appointment in Milan from 21 to 24 January 2005 for Macef - Chibi&Cart, the world's largest trade fair in the sector of home accessories, from tableware, kitchen products, decoration, furnishing textiles and accessories, to costume jewellery, fashion accessories, gifts and furnishing accessories. This is the new Macef - Chibi&Cart, the event resulting from the union of two previously separate fairs, now in its third edition. The new formula, which brings together a whole range of production sectors, now manages to occupy the entire usable area of the Fiera di Milano, the largest fair venue in Europe in terms of size and number of events hosted.
No fewer than 3,500 exhibitors are expected, a quarter from abroad.
At the heart of this new edition of Macef - Chibi&Cart is the theme of environmental sustainability and the intelligent use of materials. The aim is to respond positively to EU guidelines, implemented in Italy by the Ministry for the Environment, aimed at the recovery and recycling of refuse and waste materials. Particular focus is on legislation which obliges public offices and Italian state-owned companies to meet at least 30 percent of their annual product and goods needs with items obtained from recycled materials. This has led to the setting-up of a Recycling Register, which includes numerous product categories, such as interior furnishings, furnishing accessories, bathroom accessories, hygiene products and stationery. The companies present at the show, whose product ranges coincide largely with these categories, are thus among the subjects who should most contribute, by designing processes and products which allow for simple recovery and recycling at the end of their lifecycle.
