TRADITION, QUALITY AND INNOVATION: HOUSEHOLD TEXTILES BY FAZZINI

Fazzini, Italy’s leading bed linen company, represents a textile industry tradition that has continued since 1976 and has grown over time, providing a constantly improving response to customers’ needs. Today, the company has a solid presence in the high and medium-high end of the market, and has great ambitions for the future.
Bed linen, quilts, warm duvet covers and tartan rugs have been made with materials of the highest quality ever since Stefano Fazzini established the company together with his friend Paolo Piotti. Since then, their attention to product quality has always remained the same, and is still one of their strong points today.
We asked Marco Fazzini, who works in the company together with his brother Paolo and their mother, Maria Alberta Zibetti, who took over from her husband, how the company is doing on foreign markets and what can be expected in the future.
Mr. Fazzini, what is the added value of your company's products?
Certainly the fact that our products are entirely made in Italy. This is extremely important, particularly in regard to the dyeing and printing of fabrics: with printing, for example, we use sophisticated techniques, including digital technology, that are not used in other countries. The dyeing and printing phases in particular are strictly carried out in the best Italian dyeing and printing plants. The sophisticated trimmings for which the Fazzini label is known are then applied in meticulously clean environments, with each quilt made individually and finished by hand.
How are you positioned on foreign markets?
To tell the truth, we are facing many difficulties on the foreign markets, which is typical in our sector: the need to diversify the production of our bed linen collection, because every country has its own bed sizes as well as its own tastes, even if, regarding the latter, we have noticed that requests are becoming more uniform. Another important problem that we face on foreign markets is that, having to provide a made-to-measure product, we are forced to require payment in the initial production phase, which is generally not very well received.
On a positive note, however, we can mention the growing interest for Italian bed linen in China over the last year, in addition to that which already exists in the United States, Great Britain and Germany.
Can these problems be overcome in the future?
We hope so; in any case we are looking with great interest at the attention China is showing our products.
Who are your competitors on the market?
Our competitors are all Italian: those that come to mind are Dondi, Dea, Dellora and Fagnani, all of whom are very important Italian textile concerns.
How would you define Fazzini products?
First of all, innovative; our creativity is what sets us apart, together with our care and attention to detail. Our products are distinguished by their excellent quality/price ratio and Fazzini is also a company that is very concerned with respecting the environment: We have obtained Ecolab and BRC certification for some of our products.
