ITALY IS EVEN FASHIONABLE IN THE WORLD OF TEXTILE MACHINERY

Rome - (Ign) -Italy is the world's second-largest producer of machinery for the textiles industry. The main export markets are the United States, China, Turkey and Germany. Also in the production of machinery for tanning, and for the footwear and leather goods industry, Italy holds an enviable position, accounting for over 50% of world production. In this sector, the main export markets are China, Spain, Romania and the USA.
In 2005 exports in the textiles machinery sector were divided as follows: 26% spinning machines, 24% dyeing-printing machinery, 20% and 21% machinery for knitting and weaving respectively, and 9% other types.
According to the data provided by ACIMIT, the association which brings together Italian manufacturers of textiles machinery (www.acimit.it), in 2005 there was a drop in production of 11% (from a value of €2600 million) because of an extremely negative international situation and poor dynamicity in the export markets. In this scenario, growth was seen above all in the demand from Asian markets, in particular China, India and Pakistan.
Thanks to significant investments in innovation and an extensive range of products, forecasts indicate the recovery of Italian products. Italian production includes machinery for preparation, spinning, knitting and hosiery, twisting, spooling, reeling, dyeing, printing and finishing.
Italian textiles machinery can be used to work any kind of fibre, whether natural or man-made, and is thus able to satisfy any requests which may come from the international textiles industry.
