CITTADINI FISHING NETS CAPTURE A 360 DEGREE DEMAND IN ITALY AND EUROPE

CITTADINI FISHING NETS CAPTURE A 360 DEGREE DEMAND IN ITALY AND EUROPE

Cittadini spa has been working successfully for over 70 years in the fishing net production sector, and has become an industry leader, in Italy and Europe, in the manufacturing of ropes, braids, industrial sewing threads, twisted and air texturized yarns for weaving and technical use. It has also broadened its offer to the agriculture, construction and general industry sectors. Cittadini products have conquered all markets, becoming a synonym with excellent quality at competitive prices. Experience, quality, technology and innovation: these are the added values which make this Italian company a trader with few competitors in its sector, which is a highly specialised one but which has also progressively broadened to areas other than the company’s original business – founded in 1935 by Cesare Cittadini as a traditional fishing net shop, a typical craft in the region of the Iseo lake, near which the company was established.

The company has grown past its pioneering phase thanks to the founder’s son, Giovanni Cittadini, creator of the industrial organization of which he is currently the general manager. The first significant evolution was the company’s merger with a rope plant. Subsequently, in 1972, a new production site was added, with a twisting department for the manufacturing of nylon cords necessary for net weaving. After a decade, the factory space was no longer enough to cope with demand and the net factory was moved to the new site in Paderno Franciacorta near Brescia (12,000 covered square meters on a 45,000 square meter property).

In the new site, the company’s productivity was further expanded via the introduction of new looms, twisters and a dyehouse to dye both nets and yarns. Thanks to the know-how achieved in the production of high-strength synthetic yarns, the company started to produce a wider range of yarns, industrial sewing threads and technical yarns for weaving, ribbon factories and other industrial applications. In the 1990s the company kept growing and added finishing workings (waxing, lubrication, spooling, etc.) for footwear braids and laces. These completed the offer of sewing threads.

The manufacturing evolution of the company enabled the development of four different production departments inside Cittadini spa: net manufacturing, diversified and widened to nets for aquaculture, agriculture, sport, the construction safety sector and other innovative industrial applications; yarn manufacturing, including different kinds of cords for fishing nets and sewing threads, natural or dyed in several standard and special colours, according to the customer’s needs; rope manufacturing, used in various sectors, made in any synthetic fibres; braid manufacturing of braids, made of various fibres and used in several applications. Thanks to its own finishing and dyeing departments, Cittadini spa is specialized in all high-strength braids, natural and dyed, waxed and lubricated, used in the sectors of footwear sewing, leatherwear and furnishing.
