Latest Italian Technical Textiles and Machinery displayed at

Techtextil North America 2010

(Atlanta – May 18, 2010) Some of the very latest Italian textile products and machinery are on display at the 2010 Techtextil North America show at the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, May 18-20, 2010. The Italian Pavilion is located in exhibit Hall B3 of the Convention Center, booths 3911 and 4011.

The Italian Trade Commission, representing 19 Italian manufacturers, is hosting the Pavilion where visitors will get a hands-on look at some of the most innovative Italian technical textiles and machinery.

Booth visitors will learn about Italian made products and will be able to receive information on leading Italian manufacturers that are actively exploring business opportunities in North America.

Also present at this year’s edition of Techtextil North America is the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT) that also represents approximately 120 Italian producers of machinery for the technical textiles and nonwovens industry. In 2009, the turnover realized by this industry segment amounted to approximately 300 million euro (18% of total Italian turnover worth 1.7 billion euro).

The excellence of the Italian technology is the result of the synergy between the Italian manufacturers on one side and the Italian textile industry on the other. The sector of technical textiles embraces several companies, which are leading in different application fields (apparel, geotextiles, etc.). The continuous investment into research and innovation in the production of technical textiles has created a successful alliance of textile producers and Italian technology suppliers.

The large number of countries that import Italian textile machinery demonstrates the high quality of the Italian textile technology. In 2009, export accounted for almost 77% of the total turnover. Asia (with 50%) is the major destination of the Italian export of this industry sector, followed by Europe (32%), Latin America (7%), Africa (6%) and North America (5%).

The Italian companies exhibiting at Techtextil North America are part of a substantial Italian offering for this industry. For those companies interested in learning more about ACIMIT’s associate members operating in technical textiles or Italian textile machinery in general, please visit the ACIMIT website at www.acimit.it
