Bionucleon Srl is a start-up biotech located in the Bioindustry Park (Turin) dedicated to the exploitation of nucleic acid technologies, an area of increasing importance for scientists in the academic, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and diagnostic markets. The company aims to: develop a new thecnology to screen new synthetic aptamers, push forward oligonucleotide analogues into our R&D pipeline; provide high quality peptide nucleic acid (PNA), conjugate and chimeric oligos, to meet our customers' needs. On May, 2006 - Bionucleon won the Unioncamere prize "Best Young Innovative Italian Enterprise".
Among the other research programmes, Bionucleon Srl is developing a process to obtain aptamers made of oligonucleotides analogues, such as pna, which are resistant to nuclease degradation. Pna aptamers would be the representative of a new class of ligands, resistant to degradation, very stable, non toxic, highly specific, and selex-independent.
