POLEKO 2007: AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ITALY IN THE ENVIRONMENT SECTOR

Over 1,000 exhibitors from 20 countries - including Italy - are expected to participate in the 2007 edition of Poleko , the time-honoured Polish trade fair in the area of environmental protection. Attendance is expected to be greater than last year: : the exhibition surface planned for 2007 is 17% larger than it was in 2006. Last year's visitors topped 22,000 (+17,8%) with 934 exhibitors (+30%) spread over 17,290 square meters. The fair, which takes place every year since 1989, is considered the most important event in Central and Eastern Europe. The meeting will take place in Poznan from 20 to 23 November, where visitors will admire hundreds of new products and solutions, special exhibitions, and take part in a rich programme of conferences and workshops.
Italy will be represented at Poleko 2007 by a group brought together by the ICE (Italian Trade Commission) in the context of its 2007 programme for the promotion of Italian technology in the environmental sector. Poland, one of the EU's largest waste producers, represents a very promising market for Italy's environmental protection industry. ICE Warsaw office's promotional strategy, in cooperation with the Environment Ministry, aims to strengthen Italy's presence in terms of investment and technology. At the same time ICE seeks to promote the uptake of ad hoc projects - in the alternative energy space, for example - with the support of local authorities.
Poleko 2007 will be an opportunity for Polish operators wishing to establish initial contacts with Italian businesses represented at the fair. In keeping with tradition, the upcoming Poznan fair will be attended by industry specialists, environmental protection officials, local and national authorities as well as town council representatives, public sector companies, international organizations, research institutes, associations and foundations, universities, managers, engineers and professional researchers. Poleko is aimed at environmental consulting companies, manufacturers of anti-pollution materials and equipment in several sectors: water, air, acoustics, waste, recycling, analysis/measurement/control, renewable energies as well as air, temperature and light analysis technologies and accessories for the home.
Influenced by a growing environmental awareness, there is an increasing number of ecologically-minded Italian companies that are widening their range of solutions trading in architectural and environmental materials, focusing their attention on the requirements dictated by EU policy on environment, raw material re-use and renewable sources. This extremely heterogeneous sector is also quoted in the Italian Stock Exchange, for example thanks to Sadi Servizi Industriali (51.72 million euros in consolidated net profits in the first half of 2007), leader of a group of companies active in the fields of environmental reclaim and industrial waste treatment and disposal.
