WOODWORKING MACHINERY READY TO TAKE RUSSIA BY STORM
Italian-made woodworking machines are ready to be launched in Russia and take the country by storm. The occasion is the Lesdrevmash trade fair, taking place in Moscow between the 22nd and 26th of October, 2012. The Italian Trade Promotion Agency, ICE, together with Acimall, the professional trade association, has received confirmations from fifty companies that they will be bringing their products and their know-how to the fair, ready to compete with those of other countries.
The starting point from which to begin the creation of new business opportunities is undoubtedly the extremely positive fact relating to exports in the Italian sector which, in 2011, grew by 19.8% reaching a figure equal to 75% of total production. More specifically, exports of Italian woodworking machines to Russia in 2011 totalled €63.5 million overall. This makes Italy a first-level partner, a factor which visitors and operators will undoubtedly take into consideration when visiting the fair. The stands of the Italian companies will undoubtedly have products that are both interesting and fitted out with state-of-the-art technology - items such as chipping machines, presses, band saws, milling machines and machinery for wood engraving. Everything is obviously targeted towards the many uses of the material in the sector of construction, among others.
In short, there will be a lot to choose from; and it could hardly be otherwise, given that Italy ranks second in the world only to Germany in the production of woodworking machines and tools, ahead even of Taiwan, Japan, the USA and China. Investing time in face-to-face meetings with those companies attending the trade fair could, therefore, become an opportunity to get to know them better, find out the secret behind the excellence of Italian made products and, above all, begin planning immediately possible new business opportunities. This applies both for established contacts as well as those that may be just around the corner.
Business data relating to the performance of the sector in Italy in 2012 and distributed by Acimall show that when it comes to orders, the domestic market suffered a severe slump in the first quarter, while foreign orders grew by 4.3%. In the second quarter of that same year, according to the latest available figures, the negative trend has begun to affect foreign markets, showing signs of a slowdown. The goal is that of reversing the trend, which is also the reason behind the Italian group of businesses (present at the Lesdrevmash trade fair) growing in size since the last time the event was held in 2010. Then, the number of companies stood at thirty-nine but this year a further 10 businesses have joined the group, even more mindful of the importance of taking part in promotional events. They all come from areas where there is a stronger tradition in the production of woodworking machines, regions such as Lombardy (in particular with businesses located in the province of Bergamo), Veneto (in particular from the province of Vicenza) and Emilia Romagna (in particular, Modena). This represents the possibility of even greater opportunities for local buyers from not just Russia but the entire CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States). With promotional activities such as the inclusion of Italian manufacturing businesses in the catalogue, ICE, the Italian Trade Promotion Agency will help local investors to pick out the right contacts and will also be on hand to provide all those essential services required for the business meetings that will take place during the trade fair.
