ITALY STAR OF TASTE AT THE ANUGA FAIR IN COLOGNE.
The authentic tastes and flavours of the regions, villages and coastal towns of Italy can be savoured in Germany. The occasion is a key one: the Anuga fair , which will be held in Cologne October 5 to 9, is one of the most important for the international food industry.
The Italian Trade Commission counts among its members some of the most interesting companies in Italy: among these, for example, are pasta producers that use sophisticated methods, such as bronze drawing, to create the best-known varieties on the market (such as spaghetti, penne, tagliatelle, and those of tuna), using only the finest raw materials. There will be, for the most creative, one of the most popular condiments of Italian cuisine: the balsamic vinegar of Modena, second only to extra virgin olive oil, and surprisingly also used in sweet dishes. It will also be possible for those who visit the fair to savour good Parmesan cheese, delicious tomato sauce, and authentic cakes fresh from the oven. Then there are bitters and liquors with the true flavours of nature, like myrtle, or the intense taste of lemons from Sorrento.
Delighted by the best products, visitors will undoubtedly be encouraged to create new business opportunities, in a Germany that is already the leader of exports in the agri-food sector: this is why, in the Italian pavilion which will host a total of 182 companies, as well as regional and provincial chambers of commerce, the Italian Trade Commission has built a service centre measuring about 18 square metres, with information desk, office, fax and photocopying services, as well as three Internet stations and a coffee area with tables. The Italian Trade Commission will prepare, even before the fair, important communication strategies to enable companies to be known and appreciated. There will in fact be advertising space dedicated to Italian companies in the most important German magazines of the sector, and a catalogue will be made available online.
Success, therefore, already seems to be assured, although much will depend on the number of visitors attending the fair: at the last edition there were 154,500 visitors from 185 different countries, a record that this year we will try to match if not better upon.
