Italian Forum for Women Entrepreneurs The Mediterranean, Middle East and the Gulf 4-6 March 2007

Italian Forum for Women Entrepreneurs The Mediterranean, Middle East and the Gulf 4-6 March 2007 The idea for the Forum began in the Ministry for International Commerce with the consideration that, while female enterprise is a growing and fervent reality in Italy and the Mediterranean region in general, being a somewhat recent phenomenon, there is often a lack of opportunities for contacts and relations, particularly international ones.

It was therefore decided to create a Forum to bring together female entrepreneurs from Italy, the Mediterranean area, the Middle East and the Gulf. A total of 19 countries including Italy, which share a long tradition of cooperation, cultural relations and trade, will be taking part. A good starting point from which women can create profitable business relationships.

The Forum will take place in Milan, a city that has always been international in spirit and which has long represented the focal point of the Italian business system, including for women entrepreneurs, and which joined the initiative with enthusiasm.

The first part of the meeting, in the morning of 5th March, will be dedicated to a brief summary of the region's economy and, through a number of round tables, will provide the opportunity to share experiences with leading business exponents from different countries.

The afternoon of the 5th will be dedicated to meetings organised in accordance with the specific interests expressed by participants at the time of their registration, in order to provide networking opportunities that may develop into future relations.

There will be a Press Conference in Palazzo Marino for entrepreneurs of larger companies that are already well-established internationally, and for institutional representatives.

There will also be several refreshment breaks, which are excellent opportunities for the direct exchange of experience.

The Forum has received the immediate support of the institutions, beginning with the Prime Minister's Office, which in 2007, European Year of Equal Opportunities, sees female entrepreneurs as the flagship of a future society with women sharing the helm.

We expect around 250 Italian and foreign female entrepreneurs to take part, operating in different sectors and from the following countries: Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Israel, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Syria, Palestinian Territories, Tunisia, Turkey, Yemen.
We have delegations from all countries with the confirmed attendance of a number of important representatives of the world of enterprise and the institutions, among whom will be: Lubna Al Olayan (Saudi Arabia, Oil Group), Princess Nouf Bint Faisal Bin Turki Al-Saud (Chairwoman of Nayara Group of Companies- Riyadh), Sheika Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa (Bahrain, Chairwoman of the Supreme Council of Women and wife of Sheikh Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa), Israela Stier (Israel, the region's leading Trade Fair organisers), Lubna Al Rassidi (Emirates, Minister of the Economy), as well as a number of representatives from royal families holding institutional positions in their countries.
