American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages

ACTFL - American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages will take place on November 16 - 18, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center and Marriott Rivercenter. ACTFL is the only national convention in the United States for the teaching of foreign languages.
At this 41st edition, 300 exhibitors and over 6,000 foreign language professionals are expected. The Italian Trade Commission will be present (Booth # 524) and will showcase books, catalogues and multimedia products from the following publishers, language schools and universities: Accademia Italiana, Babilonia – Center For Italian Studies, Bonacci Editore, Cideb Black Cat, Societa' Dante Alighieri - Comitato Di Siena, Edilingua Edizioni, Eduitalia, Eli, Guerra Edizioni, Linguaviva Group, Rai - Radiotelevisione Italiana, Sorrento Lingue, Universita` per Stranieri di Perugia.
The Consulate General of Italy in Houston, The Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles, Enti Gestori USA, COMITES, COPILAS and AATI – American Association of Teachers of Italian, one of the sponsors of the convention, will also be present. A total of 24 sessions about the Italian language and culture will be presented and in addition, 4 exhibitor workshops by Guerra Edizioni, Società Dante Alighieri and Edizioni Edilingua. For the first time, ACTFL will host the Foreign Languages Film Festival. The Embassy of Italy will sponsor the screening of the film Respiro, directed by Emanuele Crialese, on November 16 at 2:45 pm. The keynote speaker at the opening cerimony will be Tony Plana, actor, director and producer of "Ugly Betty" on ABC. The theme of this conference will be "Bridging Cultures through Languages".
