March 2009 - The Italian Trade Commission announces Italy’s official participation at NECTFL 2009 with an Italian Pavilion showcasing books, catalogues and multimedia products from the following 6 publishers and 5 language schools. The 56th edition will be held at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel on Broadway from April 16^th -18^th. NECTFL is the most important regional convention in the Northeast of the United States for the teaching of foreign languages. 140 exhibitors will participate and over 2,500 foreign language professionals are expected to attend.

The Italian Pavilion will include the Italian Trade Commission (Booth #700); the Consulate General of Italy, together with the Italian Institute of Culture in New York, ENIT - The Italian Tourist Office, IACE - Italian American Committee on Education and La Scuola d’Italia “Guglielmo Marconi” (Booth #711); and ILICA, together with the Calandra Institute and EduItalia (Booth #706). Visitors to the Italian Pavilion will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from Alma Edizioni, Edilingua Edizioni, Eli, Guerra Edizioni, La Scuola, Accademia Italiana, Babilonia, Dante Alighieri – Siena and Sorrento Lingue. A total of 29 sessions about the Italian language and culture will be presented.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce (Bureau of Census), in 2008 Italy was among the major foreign suppliers of books, newspapers and other printed matter, exporting $110 million of products, in particular dictionaries, encyclopedias, bibles, newspapers and journals.
