ITALIAN NANOTECH IN NEW YORK NanoBusiness Alliance Conference April 15th-17, 2007 in New York City

ITALIAN NANOTECH IN NEW YORK NanoBusiness Alliance Conference April 15th-17, 2007 in New York City The Investments Desk of the Italian Trade Commission of New York is a sponsor of the NanoBusiness Alliance Conference taking place April 15th-17, 2007 in New York City

The Conference, in its sixth edition, will feature presentations by business leaders from several sectors where nanotechnologies are playing an increasingly important role, i.e. advanced materials, next-generation electronics, medical diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, clean energy and water filtration.

Scientists, investors, venture capitalists and business executives will be in attendance and the topics discussed will span several issues pertaining to nanotechnology and investing, commercialization, health and safety and global opportunities.

The Italian Trade Commission, which will have an exhibit space at the conference, aims to raise awareness about the Italian market, which has been rapidly developing and gaining attention. Italy has been witnessing intense R&D activities in nanotechnology, spanning wide-ranging applications: from structural and functional materials to instrumentation, from energy to life sciences and biomedical applications. Although government funded institutions and research centers still account for most of Italian nanotech activities, the contribution of the private sector has grown substantially, as the number of private companies in nanotech has grown to over 60, a 200% increase over the number surveyed in 2004.

The Trade Commission's exhibit space will feature informational material from Nanotec IT , a branch of the Italian Association for Industrial Research ( AIRI ) serving as a focal point for Italian nanotechnology, as well as from organizations such as Veneto Nanotech, ITP Invest in Turin and Piedmont and other member firms of Nanotec IT that are carrying out significant nanoscale research activities.
