Main Activity
PharmaNess is an applied pre-clinical pharmacology research center specialized in, developing innovative animal models and applications; exploring new therapeutic areas,new technologies and testing new chemical entities and promoting technology transfer, within the Scientific and Technology Park of Sardinia, Polaris, and enabling the birth of new start-up companies in Sardinia.
PharmaNess' strategic areas are represented by:
- Atypical antipsycotics
- Analgesics
- Genetics of drug-abuse/food-intake (animal models)
- Drug Design
- Drug Delivery
- Natural compounds
In addiction the company promotes other R&D through its spin-offs:
- PROTEIOS: therapeutic proteins
- EL-PRO: nanomorphology and electronic microscopy (TEM and SEM)
- PHARMA-GEN: pharmacogenetic tests (Neuropsychiatry, Pain, Cardiovascular, Oncology).
- PharmaNess provides services for the Biomedicine District of South Sardinia:
- animal facilities in validation for GLP status
- pre-clinical models in vitro from "classical" pharmacology to genomics
- pre-clinical models in vivo from "classical" pharmacology to transgenics
- toxicology and pharmacokinetics
- bioincubator
- support for other companies.
Company Strengths
R&D CAPACITY: PharmaNess offers its know-how, expertise and technologies through R&D and Service activities in the field of psycopharmacology (addiction, pain, depression, schizophrenia, anxiety) and of some peripheral disorders.The R&D center of the company is composed of multidisciplinary research units fully equipped to perform collaborative research in molecular biology, neuroanatomy, cell biology, receptor screening pharmacology, and is assisted by laboratories of pharmaceutical preparation and analytical chemistry. Some laboratories as well as the animal facilities have just started the procedure to obtain GLP status, the internal controller and the external auditor monitors have been named.
EXPERTISE: the experience gained during the past years allowed PharmaNess to reach an internationally acknowledged competence.
