THE HIGH-TECH TRACKER FOR SOLAR PANELS BY CONVERT ITALIA
Introducing a complete kit that allows solar panels to follow the sun throughout the day and can be installed on existing structures, maximising efficiency of the photovoltaic system in terms of energy and economy. Technology and optimization are at the core of this new product by Convert Italia, a Rome-based company that has been working in the energy sector for over 30 years. It is called the Convert TRJ TK, and has been designed as a kit that can be perfectly integrated with the most common single mounting-post installation structures and is able to turn fixed structures into tracking structures, and is faster and easier to assemble than other kits. Its key distinctive feature compared to similar products on the market is that the client has the opportunity to build the standard structural parts (beams, pillars, foundations) locally without depending on Convert and without paying royalties, guaranteeing a substantial reduction in the costs of building the system.
âFor many years,â says Oliviero Armezzani, Executive V.P. Strategies and Ventures for the company, as well as head of the foreign division, âConvert has developed tracking systems that have been very successful on the Italian market because of their effectiveness, efficiency and the ease with which they are included in the project in terms of technology. Our latest creation, the TRJ TK, was designed precisely to be included in already defined planning environments as best as possible, as it consists of a kit for adapting structures designed to remain fixed, and allows them to be transformed into single axis, horizontal tracking structures with an increased gain of 20% in terms of power generated, with no need for expensive redesignsâ.
With this new product, Convert is targeting international and local EPC (Engineering Procurement & Construction) businesses as its major clients and, Armezzani explains, âin their respective markets they will be able to propose solutions to their investors that use our tracker to improve their competitiveness and guarantee attractive orders in terms of value and technological contentâ. At the same time, Armezzani continues, âwe are working with leading investment funds on the reference markets to help them understand the financial and economic advantages of adopting our solutions, so that the offers by EPCs containing TRJ TK find fertile ground and so that there is an increased awareness of itâ. In addition to the technological component, their business policy will offer a series of services ranging from the construction specifications of the fixed components, to the local supervision and installation thereof. The value of the sale to the company will only relate to the kit component, whereas the structural component will by purchased directly by the client. In light of this, the group considers a target of around 15 million per country per year to be achievable, with respective volumes of around 150 MW per country.
It is an important target for Convert in this time of crisis: âThe crisis can only be dealt with through innovation,â says Armezzani, âby investing in particular skills and spending energy on being active. It is no coincidence that we devote at least 4.5% of our annual revenue on research and development, 40% of our staff work in technical departments and of these 7% in research and development, producing a number of patents every year in the solar and biomass sectors. At the moment we are developing innovative solutions in the areas of programming the energy supply dedicated to thermodynamic solar power and anaerobic digestion by the photovoltaic systems.â
