CONSONNI'S ITALIAN STYLE FOR THE WORLD'S LUXURY HOTELS
Experience, tradition, attention to design and a spirit of adventure. This is how Consonni International Contract - a company from CantĂč that offers service contracts of the highest level, predominantly in the luxury hospitality sector - describes itself. Ninety percent of its turnover comes from abroad, even though it chooses to keep its headquarters in Italy.
Gianluca Colombo, the company's Chief Commercial Officer talks about its strong points and its plans for the future.
- Consonni International Contract achieves 95% of its turnover abroad, but the core of the company remains firmly based in CantĂč. Why this choice? What does this mean for you?
The exposure abroad stems from a clear market orientation, to which we obviously have adapted. The market at this moment in time in foreign countries is clearly growing but is decidedly stagnant in Italy. The core of the company, however, remains in CantĂč, in Italy, because we like to make the idea of being an Italian product one of our strong points. Fortunately, Italian products are still the best, in terms of quality, and they are still competitive from quality/price ratio perspective.
- What do you think is the company's most distinctive feature which turns it into an Italian product of excellence?
Undoubtedly its almost unique ability of providing products any services for producing comprehensive turnkey projects. Added to this is its 50 years' experience in the world of hotel supplies and a long list of references in a wide variety of countries around the world. We are, to all intents and purposes, a multinational business with a number of offices abroad. This allows us to serve our customers in a more timely and efficient manner and with very high standards of service.
- Where are you operating abroad and in what way?
You'll find us in the UAE, India, Kazakhstan, Switzerland, France and in the Congo with subsidiaries or branches. Each of our offices abroad is run by country-area managers who oversee the business and technical staff.
- In which markets are you working the most and in which are you looking to expand?
At the present moment in time all of the markets we are present in are performing well and the best prospects for growth are probably in the markets of the GCC (Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf).
- What is your most recent major contract?
Right now we have two major projects under way: the refurbishment of the hotel Royal in Evian (France) and the creation of The Chedi Apartment in Andermatt (Switzerland), which follows the successful handover of the "Chedi" hotel in the same location.
- How was your turnover for 2013 and what targets have you set yourselves for 2014?
2013 proved to be a year of slight growth while 2014 is already showing signs of being significant.
