Main Activity
TOP srl, a spin off of the University of Milan located at the Technological Padan Park in Lodi, is the first custom-oriented research company fully dedicated to the development of reporter systems (cells and mice) for optical, radionuclide and magnetic resonance imaging.
TOP's mission is to provide innovative tools for functional imaging in basic and applied research, to promote the ethical use of laboratory animals by reducing their use, replacing current "in vivo" methodologies with non invasive imaging techniques, refining in vivo analysis of molecular events by globally imaging.
TOP is able to offeri innovative solutions for drug development: target discovery, drug profiling, ADMET. TOP s.r.l. is proprietary of a novel technology for ubiquitous expression of reporter genes for the generation of unique models for drug screening, pharmacological profiling and toxicological analysis at increased rapidity and reduced costs.
Moreover, TOP offers reliable systems for toxicological analysis for environmental and food contaminants: TOP s.r.l. gives alternative models in toxicity research to identify active compounds in complex mixtures; to localize tissues and organs specifically targeted by chemical contaminants and endocrine disrupters, evaluate the effects of long term exposure with minimal animal use and sacrifice.
TOP produces unique tools for in vitro and in vivo study of gene expression, molecular mechanisms of diseases, physiological regulatory molecules. Physiology friendly reporter systems generated by TOP s.r.l. technology enable to obtain a dynamic vision of macromolecule interactions, gene expression, regulatory molecule actions in living organisms where all metabolic functions are maintained and not altered by over-expression or deletion of specific gene functions.
TOP technological platform meets customer's needs providing a) consulting service for construct design b) consulting service for reporter generation c) consulting service and innovative protocols for reporter system validation.

HIGH QUALITY PRODUCTS: TOP is proprietary of cell and animal models for imaging. These products are also tailored made on the customer's requirements.
LICENSES/TRADE MARKS/QUALITY CERTIFICATIONS/PATENTS: TOP controls the following patent EP 1298988 titled: "Transgenic mouse for screening and for studies of the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of ligands acting on intracellular receptors, and method for the preparation thereof".
INNOVATIVE PROCESSES/SERVICES/PRODUCTS: Unique tools to study the effects of different drugs, preventing the epigenetic effects, in ubiquitary way making use of the in vivo technology (CCD camera, SPET, NMR.)
