THE SOLAR ENERGY REVOLUTION IS LABELLED ALMECO

It is totally recyclable, cheap, and has a low environmental impact. Above all, it is completely Italian-made, from its design to manufacture. Vegaflex is the name of this new generation solar panel intended to revolutionise the production of energy obtained from sunlight. Vegaflex was conceived and designed by Almeco in San Giuliano Milanese (MI). The company has been operating for over 40 years in the lighting sector and the manufacture of aluminium surfaces for applications that require high reflectivity. Aside from its Milanese plant, since 2006 it has also been producing in Germany with an industrial establishment in Bernburg.
The innovative Vegaflex reflective panel is made from a special aluminium alloy developed for use in thermodynamic plants. This gives Vegaflex qualities that allow an improvement in the efficiency, competitiveness and the economic viability of solar energy power plants. The Vegaflex solar panel has a reflective capacity of 95% and it promises to be valid alternative to current solutions (which are mainly glass-based) because it is cheap, durable, unbreakable and light, it can be easily bent to obtain the right curvature and is convenient to transport, stack and install. Vegaflex is also highly resistant to atmospheric agents and is made from a completely eco-sustainable material that is 100% recyclable.
Highly reflective layers of Vegaflex are laid on a high-purity aluminium mirror substrate, which has been previously polished and anodised. This forms a chemically stable support providing maximum durability and perfect integration with the base, which is also made from aluminium. The multilayer reflective system consists of a 99.99% pure layer of aluminium covered by two transparent layers with different refractive indices, which increase the total surface reflection by up to 95% and more. Vegaflex will be first used in the solar energy power plant project with which Almeco, in partnership with other firms, recently won the second competitive bid from āIndustria 2015ā, an innovation programme run by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development to finance industrial research and experimental development.
The story of Almeco is a combination of intuition, determination and experience gained in the field. The origins of the company, which today exports all around the world, go back to 1960, the year in which Visigalli and Fiorentini were founded. In 1968 the company, which in the meantime had been named Citor srl, changed from manual to serial fabrication and became specialised in the production of reflective surfaces. In 1979 it inaugurated the first automatic plant for electrochemical polishing and serial anodising of reflectors. Sacall Spa, a company specialising in the pre-treatment of aluminium strips, was founded three years later. It featured a 1000 mm-wide production line (a record at the time), which increased to 1,250 mm when the second line was inaugurated in 1997. In 1999 Almeco Spa was created from the merger between Citor and Sacall, with its base in the new San Giuliano Milanese industrial complex.
