The ITALIAN PAVILION at Middle East Electricity 2007
DUBAI - UAE, February 11-14 2007

Official Italian Pavilion at the 2006 Middle East Electricity Exhibition

From 11 to 14 February 2007, at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre (formerly DWTC), will take place the 32nd edition of "Middle East Electricity-Exhibition and Conference", the largest power & electricity exhibition in the Middle East and one of the top 5 industry events in the world for the electricity, lighting, power generation and new & renewable energy sectors. The last edition has registered: an attendance of about 10.000 visitors, 800 exhibitors (with 88 countries represented and 19 official National Pavilions, including Italy, Austria, Canada, China, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, India, Iran, Korea, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, UK, USA), a floor space occupied of 25.000 sqm.

The official Italian participation to the event is supported, as well as the last year, by Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (I.C.E.). The focus of ICE, the Italian Governmental Agency, is promoting trade, business opportunities and industrial cooperation between Italian and foreign companies, operating through more than 100 branch offices in over than 80 countries, including Italian Trade Commission in Dubai, Trade Promotion Section of the Italian Embassy. The Italian Trade Commission in Dubai is managed by Dr. Ferdinando Fiore, Italian Trade Commissioner, who coordinates this initiative in cooperation with Rome headquarters.

The last edition in 2006, with 43 exhibitors taking part within the Official Italian pavilion, was one of the biggest National participation to the fair: the Italian exhibitors belonged to different segments of electronics and electro technical field. The 2007 edition will house an Italian Official Pavilion consisting of 53 companies, taking part to the event, with an increasing both in the number of companies and in the larger space occupied every year (750 sqm, compared to the 650 sqm and 43 companies participating in 2006). There are also every year a group of Italian companies participating autonomously (about 10-15, especially the ones with an official representative in the local market), resulting in one of the biggest foreign representatives to a Fair in the UAE. Italy is officially present at the exhibition since 2000.

The most represented Italian manufacturers at 2007 edition are: producers of plants, equipment and devices for power production, transmission ad distribution (23 companies- including producers of generators, transformers, insulators, high and medium voltage circuit breakers and isolation switches, UPS systems, but also explosion proof materials and acoustic warning devices) beside producers of components and devices for electrical installation (15 including also cables); there are also producers of lighting technologies (4-including indoor and outdoor lighting technologies and also active and passive components for lighting), industrial automation and Test & Measurement instrumentation (8 companies), two Export Consortia and the Italian Federation ANIE, which represent more than 900 Italian manufacturers of electronic and electro technical equipment associated (Italy count on a number of about 1600 companies active in this field).

The Fair is an excellent opportunity to create business relations and new commercial and industrial openings: in fact the demand for energy throughout the region expands at a rate that far exceeds the global average; for Dubai alone the Government sources (DEWA-Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) forecasts an increase in power consumption at an annual rate between 7 and 10% until 2012, as a result the opportunities for companies involved in all aspect of the energy industry are unparalleled. Contemporary the general development of Middle East regarding industry, tourism, hotels, leisure activities and the booming construction sector, offers vast opportunities for those involved in lighting sector (and to generalize for all companies involved in production such as of components and devices for electrical installation, security, etc).

To support the Italian participation to the fair the Italian Trade Commission in Dubai organises every year a massive advertising campaign, including: press releases to local principal mass media, ad hoc advertising in the leading Arabic and English local newspapers or technical magazines, advertising on the official show directory, web catalogue and illustrated catalogue of the "Official Italian Pavilion", personal invitations to the Italian Pavilion to qualified businessmen from the local sector, public relation activities, advertising banner poster and gadgets distribution during the show, etc.

Actually Italy can count on a qualified network of small and medium sized enterprises, which are enabled to successfully operate into foreign markets, by continuous research and technological innovation, along with high expertise and flexibility in the production process.
