SITP International Public Works and Construction Trade Fair
In Algeria, where the Government has approved an imposing five-year public investment programme concentrating mainly on the infrastructure, in order to propose the best machinery for the Made in Italy building trade. The occasion is the SITP International Public Works and Construction Trade Fair, to be held in the African country’s capital from 21 to 25 November. Taking part will be 23 companies selected from the most important in the sector, and coordinated by the ICE (Italian Trade Promotion Agency), ready to compete with the other exhibitors by underlining quality and the existing good commercial relations. In fact, Italian builders have successfully established themselves in many sectors as being among the principal suppliers of specialized machinery in Algeria, where on one hand there is a lack of technology, and on the other there is the necessity to acquire a more modern machine park, one which can be supplied only by expert foreign companies, for example from Italy.
The zone dedicated to Italy (350 square metres) will offer visitors and local experts proposals involving various segment products, including aggregate preparation plants, boring and piling machines, machines for concrete work, road construction, and for recycling building rubble, but also services such as contracting for civil and industrial construction and engineering projects.
The stalemate in the Italian construction sector, which has persisted since 2008, has found its safety valve in the export market. In fact in 2011, exports registered a positive growth (+21.6% over 2010), a data trend which has been confirmed as more-or-less stable for the first half of 2012 (+20%). This is the result of Italian companies concentrating decisively on the foreign market, conscious of being able to offer trustworthy products of the latest generation.
Boring – piling remains clearly the largest segment in export terms, with foreign sales at around 790 million Euros in 2011, and it is again the most dynamic in the first half of 2012 (+32%). This is followed by concrete – prefabrication (478 million in 2011), a segment which suffers from the aggression of the Chinese competitors, road machinery (299 million), crushing – production of aggregates (179 million), hoisting apparatus (131 million). Each of these segments saw export increases during the first half of 2012 of various amounts between 6 to 18 per cent. Trade fairs such as the SITP Asia are very important opportunities for anyone who wishes to increase their knowledge of Made in Italy construction machinery. The previous edition of the event in 2011 was held in an area of 15 thousand square metres and 300 companies participated, 130 of which were foreign. This year, the number of visitors is expected to exceed, given the constant growth of the SITP trade fair, the impressive 14 thousand who attended last year. The exhibitors from Italy will certainly not be caught unprepared and will arrive for the appointment conscious of being able to offer machinery developed as a result of a complete study of the sector, and capable of supplying the perfect answer to the needs of every constructor and operator.
