INNOVATION, TECHNOLOGY, DESIGN: THE CAR-WASH SYSTEMS MADE BY DAERG ITALIA

More than just car-washes, these are âperfect combinations of technology, innovation and designâ: this is how Ceccato (www.ceccato.it), who have been making car-wash systems just outside Vicenza for over 50 years, like to describe their products. In the case of the Daeg brand, innovation, technology and design have also been combined with a very high degree of sophistication.
The company pays enormous attention to research and development, allocating 5% of its annual turnover (more than 50 million Euros) to this area. The investment has enabled the firm to launch some extremely innovative products onto the market, such as systems mounted with sophisticated sensors, designed to clean cars in the best possible way. For example, they vary the amount of detergent to be used according to which part of the car is being washed, and the type of dirt involved. There is also real concern for the environment, demonstrated by the special mechanism for recycling water. These Daerg systems include another amazing innovation: thanks to the use of water and detergents at high pressure, they can wash and clean a car without ever having to touch it. The sensors in the Daeg auto-wash are also able to record and memorize the outline of the car. At the end of the washing cycle there is no longer the need for a drying process, the frequent cause of unsightly limescale stains: all that is required is a special treatment with purified water. The systems are designed as self-service modules, able to operate 24 hours a day. The company has chosen to incorporate a high degree of customer assistance with the Daerg brand, ranging from an initial assessment of the amount of building work to be carried out to the final setting up of the system, chemical products included.
The company, which forms part of the Ceccato Group, has achieved some impressive results. Established by Pietro Ceccato in 1936, the business originally produced burners for bread ovens, going on to make air compressors and equipment for service stations. The companyâs reputation grew rapidly when it started to manufacture auxiliary motors for bicycles and later, sports motorcycles. In the period from the end of the war up to the 1980s, the death of the founder and the enormous growth in car use forced the company to make some drastic changes. The business was acquired by the Capra and Dolcetta families, and started to specialize increasingly in the production of compressors, car workshop accessories, and car-wash units. From the 1980s onwards, Ceccato began to develop its international role. In the course of twenty years the firm evolved into an industrial group and a leader in the field of vehicle wash systems, now the companyâs core business. Many partnerships have been established, both in Italy and abroad, with new factories opening in Brazil, Germany and Poland. In 1997 the company stopped producing air compressors and, in 1999, it acquired Daerg Italia, a specialist in self-service wash bays (Daerg became an integral part of Ceccato in 2005). Nowadays, Ceccato is operating, either directly or indirectly, in more than 60 countries, while Daerg exports its technology to over 40 countries: from Europe to North and South America, from the Middle East to North Africa, and from Australia to Indochina.
