THE UNION OF WIND POWER AND SOLAR ENERGY PRODUCES “EOLUX”

Wind and solar energy combined to ensure the optimal use of resources in a single, high-tech microsystem particularly suited for residential use albeit open to other domains. Its name is EoLux, conceived and patented by Ernest Frassinelli, in collaboration with BriLux, a company located in Bressanone (Bolzano) providing solutions in the latest generation LED lighting area, which extends beyond residential use and increasingly engages in renewable energy projects.
EoLux is a radically innovative idea that has already received many requests from distributors in Italy and the United States. Its low cost (probably in the region of 5 to 6 thousand Euro) allows the production of energy with maximum output in all-weather conditions, while its reduced dimensions means it can be installed practically anywhere. This includes rooftops, even inclined ones, to provide the energy required for powering domestic lighting and appliances, as well as common condominium systems, air pollution monitoring stations, or even security camera systems. Ernesto Frassinelli goes on to say "the smaller models are particularly suitable for use, for example, in remote or mountainous areas, not least because a mains connection is not required. The system can be easily mounted on boats, mobile homes, or caravans. In addition, it may be used for powering telephone, television, or radio repeaters, fence electrification units and even agriculture irrigation systems or sea water desalination facilities".
However, the main purpose for which EoLux was designed is residential. "Dimensions are extremely reduced” - Frassinelli says – “we are in the one meter thirty range while the blade diameter is under one meter". Thanks to its high-capacity six-blade propeller, the wind turbine operates with minimum wind speeds and high attack angles, thus reducing noise levels, something that is unquestionably a key factor in residential use. "This system” – adds Frassinelli – “is quieter than any other on the market". Furthermore, the solar panels are also incorporated into the upper fairing and, in addition to producing energy also protect the generator from the external elements. Another remarkable feature is that the whole structure can be easily folded away to protect it in particularly adverse weather conditions. EoLux, among other things, is designed to rotate 120 degrees on the horizontal and vertical planes, thus following through its sensors the most efficient energy source both day and night. This dual wind and solar system, operates concurrently to choose the most convenient orientation or the best compromise, according to the environmental conditions of the location, the season and the time of day. Frassinelli reveals that second-generation of systems will replace the sensors with mechanical systems "that will ensure lower costs and greater efficiency when compared to sensors". The energy produced by both the wind and solar systems, is collected a single storage unit located at the base of a structure that does not require a mast or tower installation but is simply laid onto the roof, even an inclined one, making the connection to the electrical mains significantly simpler.
