![]() ITALY AT PROJECT LEBANON - 16TH TO 19TH JUNE 2009The Italian Trade Commission (ICE), Trade Promotion Section of the Italian Embassy organizes the Italian official participation at Project Lebanon 2009 through a National Pavilion where 25 specialized companies will exhibit their products on an area of around 500 sq.m. It is not only the biggest foreign participation, but it is the largest presence that Italy has ever had at this Exhibition, showing the great interest of the Italian system of Small and Medium Sized companies toward Lebanon in this particular period of economic rehabilitation of the Country.The exhibits include machines, equipment, materials, services and technologies related to building and construction industries. Of the total area, 120 sq.m. will be dedicated to a standalone exhibition denominated "Italian Marble Show", a Project designed by the world famous Italian architectural office "Studio Marco Piva". It consists of a series of "pieces of art" realized by ten Italian companies renowned for their skills to unravel the beauty of marble and other natural stones by using innovative technologies. Held for the first time in the Middle East, the "Show" will offer you the chance of admiring the various Italian techniques of marble uses and processing. Not only this, but you will have the possibility of benefiting from information concerning the Italian production of marble and natural stones through the seminar "The Italian Marbles: Journey from Quarry to our Home" that will be held on Thursday 18th June 2009 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. H.E. Gabriele Checchia, Ambassador of Italy will inaugurate the Seminar, organized in cooperation with International Fairs and Promotions (IFP) and the Order of Engineers and Architects of Beirut, and conducted by two prominent Italian experts: Architect Marco Piva, who will be in Beirut specifically for this event, and Engineer Piero Primavori. For this special occasion, the President of the Order of Engineers and Architects of Beirut, has invited his colleagues from other Arab countries such as Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and United Arab Emirates. In the year 2008, the Italian exports to Lebanon reached 1 billion 109 million US$ with a 4.7% increase compared to 2007. During the first three months of 2009 Italy exported to the Country goods worth 275 million US$ with a market share of 8.5%. Italy is, at the moment, the third supplier of Lebanon behind China and Germany, and ahead of France and USA. All the major sectors of Italian manufacturing specializations show a significant increase, including the building and construction products that soared by 22%. On the occasion of the official inauguration of the exhibition a press conference will be held by the Ambassador of Italy, H.E. Gabriele Checchia, on June 16th, at 6.00 pm, within the Italian Pavilion, Hall 1, Stand E 30 [Italian Marble Show].
