THE ENERGY-PRODUCING TILE MADE IN ITALY

Combining tradition and modernity to make a roof tile that uses photovoltaic technology: this is the goal achieved by Area Industrie Ceramiche, with an exclusive patented system in which ordinary tiles become a source of clean energy, with perfect integration between the photovoltaic system and the roof of the building. This product from the Lazio-based company is a simple and innovative solution that can be used without difficulty on any type of roof.
Tegolasolare are made like any other conventional roof tiles, both in terms of their shape and material, which is mainly natural clay. An individual Tegolasolare is larger than an ordinary tile and contains an integrated solar panel composed of four cells. This becomes a segment of the entire photovoltaic system, which is completely integrated. By connecting each panel to the next, a photovoltaic field is created that can cover the entire surface of the roof and reach as large an area as is desired. Each panel is connected to the next through an electronic device connected in turn to control unit that gathers the energy produced by the photovoltaic system and feeds it into the mains network. The Tegolasolare is laid like a normal tile and provides a very stable roof covering. A roof made with this type of tile will enable replacement of one or more damaged panels, subsequent upgrading over time with more advanced panels, good modularity and a low visible impact. The appearance of the roof remains unchanged from the outside, preserving the visual features of a traditional tiled roof, but in fact it conceals an important technological innovation that permits the generation of sustainable energy. The tiles are made from red natural clay, with no added chemical substances to ensure a reduced impact on the environment, with recycling of the water and materials used in the production cycle.
Area Industrie Ceramiche was founded through the acquisition of Marazzi Sud and its large production plant (the largest in the centre-south of Italy), specialised staff (over 100 employees) and large red clay quarry. Through the use of locally available raw materials, mainly from the Sigillo quarry, 10 km from the production zone in Anagni, in the province of Frosinone, transport costs are kept to a minimum and the impact on the environment is reduced. Area Industrie Ceramiche later merged with France Ceram, transforming the group into Area FranCeram, the leading French ceramic production group, which continues to produce ceramic tiles and photovoltaic roof tiles for the market in the north of Europe as well as for African countries.
