ICE PROGRAM IN INFRASTRUCTURE AND GREEN BIZ 2009

Recognizing that infrastructure, investment and foreign trade are backbones for its development, Vietnam has already invested an average of 10% of its Gross Domestic Product in it, a share that is poised to increase further in the near future. Furthermore, the Vietnamese authorities have made it clear that it will have to be a socially and environmentally sustainable growth. The call for foreign investment and international cooperation in this area, under different forms, including not only trade but also various kinds of partnerships, has not gone unnoticed in Italy and the Italian Trade Commission (ICE) is launching a two-year campaign about infrastructure building and financing in order to respond to it. The program, financed by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development , will operate in three main areas, i.e. transportation, power and environment. Its first initiative is to allow 18 Italian companies and ICE itself to be present at Greenbiz with their corporate publications and catalogues, in order to assess in a preliminary way Vietnamese potential counterparts’ interest in their products and services. The Italian producers and service providers participating in Greenbiz 2009 have a vast know-how and high standards in the infrastructure sector in terms of technology and experience. Many of them have been active in several foreign countries, both with traditional marketing campaigns and with bids in response to international tenders launched by developing and developed countries. They represent the “tip of the iceberg†of the Italian mechanical and consulting industries, which have consistently delivered important results and reliable, cost-effective innovations with an increasing attention to environmental concerns. ICE, operating country-wide from its office in Hochiminh City, will act as a bridge between these industries and companies and potential counterparts in Vietnam. We do hope that our mission will bring a wide range of benefits for both the public and the private sector in order to foster a sustainable development of Vietnam’s infrastructure and of the related services.Test
