From January 18 to 21, 2010, a delegation of seven Italian hair care, body care and professional spa products suppliers have visited Hochiminh City and Hanoi, Vietnam to explore the possibility of penetrating the country’s cosmetic market where demand for foreign natural cosmetic products is strongly growing.

The visit is part of the “Made in Italy” program, organized by the Italian Trade Commission (ICE) and Italian Association of Cosmetic Industries (UNIPRO), to promote Italian cosmetic business in Vietnam and facilitate the establishment of deeper business relations between companies of the two countries.

The seven delegates include general directors and export managers from leading Italian cosmetic manufacturers who had established contacts with local importers and distributors through business-to-business meetings. So far, 103 appointments have been arranged to help bring businesspeople from both sides closer together.

As part of the working program, a seminar on Italian and Vietnamese cosmetic industry was organized to help participants understand the demand and supply from two countries. Additionally, the audiences also had the opportunity to catch up with the most updated information and developing trend of local retail industry through presentation from Association of Vietnam Retailers.

Vietnam with the population of 86 million people, of which more then 60% is under 35 years old, and its hot, wet climate will most likely develop a strong demand for cosmetics. The Vietnamese consumer loves foreign natural cosmetic products, one the fields of specialization of Italian companies.
