Who we are
In 1994 a group of operators from various Italian industrial districts
founded the Industrial Districts Club, an association whose purpose was
and still is to give a voice to the industrial districts and to solicit
increased attention on the part of the political world.
At present, 27 districts are members of the association: Prato, Carpi
(Mo), Belluno, Lecco, Biella, Como, Empoli (Fi), Treviglio (Bg), Sassari
(Calangianus/Tempio Pausania), Pesaro, Urbino, Santa Croce (Pi), Montebelluna
(Tv), Cusio-Valsesia (No/Vc), Ascoli Piceno (Fermo e San Benedetto del
Tronto), Carrara (Mc), Alto Livenza (Pn/Tv), Viadana-Casalmaggiore (Mn),
Lumezzane (Bs), Verbano Cusio, Ossola (Vb), Sassuolo (Mo), Brianza Comasca
Milanese (Co), Asse del Sempione (Va), Lucca, Matera, Castel Goffredo
(Mn), and Cicagna (Ge).
The objectives of the Club are:
- to promote the exchange of information and experiences between district
operators;
- to transfer the scale of industrial policy from the national level
to that of the regions and the districts;
- to favour the adoption of instruments of intervention in support of
the industrial districts;
- to promote the image of the industrial districts.
The Club:
- organizes conferences and seminars on the districts and industrial
policy;
- promotes research on the Italian and European industrial districts;
- furnishes information to district operators, the press, the academic
world, and public agencies through an active Internet site (www.clubdistretti.it)
and a quarterly newsletter (Distretti italiani);
- conducts relations with the national government, the European Union
and the regions, sustaining the interests of the industrial districts
and helping to orient industrial and promotional policy in their favor.
The Club is a cultural association, fully supported by the contributions
of its members.
