LICENSES/TRADE MARKS/QUALITY CERTIFICATIONS/PATENTS: Efficient production of neurochemicaly active neurons for pharmacological studies and drug screening. The unique and innovative characteristic in this field of research is the result of proprietary technologies related to the isolation, expansion and differentiation of novel Neural Stem cell lines (NS - Patent application number: EP 06025098.8). The proliferating and differentiated neurons are highly suitable for drug screening campaigns due to the robustness of the differentiated neurons, their function and neurochemical properties.
Dialectica selects compounds able to promote neuronal survival and phenotype maintenance, using proprietary cell based assays. A series of active compounds have already been identified (Patent application number: VA2006A0041).
INNOVATIVE PROCESSES/SERVICES/PRODUCTS: Dialectica's activities in the area of innovative cell models of brain pathologies are focused on the development of homogeneous and stable cellular systems with specific phisio-pathological traits
R & D: In the field of Target-based assays in neuronal cells, the activities are focused on the development, validation and utilisation of molecular and functional assays for the evaluation of the effect of a large number of compounds against a series of defined parameters. From this discovery area, modified/genetically engineered (stem or non-stem) cell systems have been developed for use in large-scale compound analysis of neuroactive molecules. Activities range from selection of the most suitable cell systems, development and validation of the assay to optimisation of the selected system in order to screen samples on a large-scale
EXPERTISE: Dialectica has extensive experience in the production of genetic models of neurodegenerative diseases (for example Huntington’s Disease, HD).
