Molteni Farmaceutici, founded in 1892, is a privately held company already producing and distributing in Europe principally anti-pain products, both for hospital use and prescription.
Its R&D is focused on the discovery and development of new proprietary pharmaceuticals through the synthesis of novel Photosensitizers, phthalocyanines (PCs) and porphirins (PPs), used in PhotoDynamic Therapy (PDT).
Molteni’s proprietary library of over 200 new chemical entities (PCs, PPs), show increased potency, broader spectrum of action and/or efficacy against bacterial, fungal, drug-resistant infections as well as certain cancers. Molteni’s pipeline is protected by 15 patents.
Molteni has compounds in pre- development, with the potential to become treatments for serious unmet medical needs, like the growing occurrence of drug-resistant bacterial and fungal infections, as well as certain cancers. The market for these therapeutic categories is significant and highly competitive.
Molteni is seeking partnering, co-development and out-licensing agreements for some of the 200 molecules of this very large pipeline, and for a number of its indications.
