STRONG ITALIAN PRESENCE AT LONDON WINE FAIR 2008
The London International Wine and Spirits Fair from 20-22 May at the Excel exhibition centre is dedicated to the needs of importers, merchants, agents, restaurateurs and hoteliers and is unique in the scope it offers for tastings and meetings with suppliers and winemakers. This year, the Italian Trade Commission is taking part in a national area including the Italian wine producing regions of Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli Venezia-Giulia, Lazio, Lombardia, Piemonte, Toscana, Trentino, Sardegna and Sicilia.
To complement the individual regional displays, the Italian Trade Commission is also organising a series of tastings each day on stand V40 which will properly highlight the diversity of the regional “terroirs”. These will be supported by an information office on stand V50 where qualified staff will be pleased to provide additional information concerning Italian wine production. Also present in the information area are FEDERDOC and Consortia for Asti, Chianti Classico, Soave and Franciacorta with their wines available for sampling throughout the show.
The London Wine and Spirits Fair has become one of the most important events in the world wine and spirits calendar and the Italian Trade Commission has been involved in the promotion of Italian companies at the Fair for many years. The UK is the biggest importer of wine in the world and last year the show had nearly 18000 visitors and over 1250 exhibiting stands. A third of all its visitors came from outside the British Isles.
