WELCOME TO MILAN FOR TOP QUALITY SHOES AND LEATHER ACCESSORIES
A stunning collection of shoes, bags and gorgeous accessories: objects to excite your desires and create a sense of awe. This will be the winning formula for the Micam Shoevent and for Mipel The Bagshow, both due to take place in Milan. The two events will be held concurrently, from 16th to 19th September 2012, and will be presenting their new spring/summer collections. A significant number of foreign operators are expected to attend, with their visit coordinated by ICE, the Italian Trade Promotion Agency.
To be exact, a total of 73 operators are due to take part in the Micam Shoevent, travelling from such diverse countries as the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Japan, China (Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing), the USA, India, South Africa, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Mipel The Bagshow, on the other hand, will see the participation of 16 highly specialized operators representing Japan, China, Hong Kong, Dubai, the USA, Ukraine, Russia and Korea. In such a diverse and high-quality setting, the Italian companies present are expected to offer their best. There will be shoes from their latest collections, made from very high quality materials and created by top designers. These will be shown in a series of versions, to suit every possible need. The range will include practical, feminine dance pumps, now considered a “must” for the ladies and available in every shape and colour to match your wardrobe. At the other end of the scale, are the high-heeled shoes for special occasions, some of them decorated with Swarovski gems. Then there are the shoes for ceremonial events and the men’s footwear collections.
The perfect shoes cannot go without accessories to match, so Mipel The Bagshow, an event entirely dedicated to high-quality leather goods, has been organised alongside the Micam Shoevent. On display will be a fabulous and tempting selection of leather handbags, cases, bags, wallets and accessories. There will certainly be no lack of choice, and the Italian exhibitors will be concentrating on artisan products with simple, elegant designs, suited to every taste and any type of outfit.
The export figures certainly seem to show how important it is for Italian leather goods manufacturers to invest in foreign operators. The total value of exports to the end of November 2011 was equivalent to 3.8 billion Euros, higher than the figures for 2010. China heads the table of export countries, followed by Singapore, the Arab Emirates, Turkey and Russia. Indeed, many of the operators invited to the event come from these very same countries, an indication of Italy’s desire to consolidate a position in markets where it already has a presence. Meanwhile, the operators from other countries are offered the enticing prospect of doing new business.
The same is true for the footwear manufacturers: exports in 2011 increased both in value (+13%) and in quantity (+4%), with a total of 214,499 pairs of shoes sold. Sales to France and Germany were up, while outside Europe there was significant growth in exports both to China (+84.6%) and to Hong Kong (+47%). The fact that operators from these countries are attending the Micam fair can make a huge difference, both in terms of cementing customer loyalty and in stimulating new business. Many of the other participants, mainly from the emerging nations, will certainly be on the lookout for crucial details and “sophisticated” designs: in effect, all the touches that make a difference.
During the two days after the fairs, the operators invited to the events will be treated to a series of organized visits to manufacturing centres. They will be able to visit different companies and learn more about their production methods, including the selection of hides and all the various stages of processing. The visitors will also have the opportunity to supplement or confirm the orders they placed at the fair. It is hoped that this experience, also from the wider cultural and historical perspective, will allow them to learn more about the reality of a country that has produced such excellent, world-famous manufacturers.
What is certain is that the creativity and exceptional quality of Italian products will make the final difference.
