IT'S TIME FOR THE EXCELLENCE OF ITALIAN MADE PRODUCTS. TASTES AND FLAVOURS TAKE TO THE STAGE IN PARIS
Set against the splendid backdrop of Paris to promote the best in Italian cuisine - really well known-high quality products that are appreciated the world over, accompanied by first class wines that are totally capable of competing with those of our French hosts. Sial 2012 will welcome visitors from the 21st to the 25th October to present a truly substantial group of approximately 200 companies. The biannual event is eagerly awaited because it is an opportunity of confronting one another and provides opportunities for launching oneself onto the international scene. The group representation will be coordinated by ICE - the Italian Trade Promotion Agency and it is one of the most important in terms of space occupied and number of participants. ICE personnel will be on hand both during the preparatory phase as well as during the actual event to provide promotional assistance and offer support to the Italian companies taking part in this important, international event.
One of the things that will undoubtedly surprise the professionals browsing the stands of the Italian companies will be the excellent taste of simple things: ‘bruschetta’ toasted bread with extra-virgin olive oil, made exclusively from olives harvested at precisely the right moment of maturity and mozzarella (buffalo, but non only). Then there is a delicious selection of charcuterie, where visitors will be spoilt for choice: the delicious ham of the Emilia region - sliced on the spot; ‘mortadella’ from Bologna, with its intense flavour and spiced; ‘bresaola’ (dried salt beef) from the Valtelline valley, delicate and with a low fat content. Then, in order to be sure that has nothing has been overlooked, there are the fillets of Italian tuna whose beauty and taste are enhanced by their transparent glass containers. It also goes without saying that there had to be pasta and rice as well. Of course to top it all off in the true, traditional, Italian way, a dessert, ice cream or sorbet, but above all an espresso, a strong shot of black coffee with its unmistakeable aroma.
And so it is that the Sial trade fair will contain everything that has always rendered Italian made agriculture and food products totally unique and everything needed to appreciate it at its best and to allow oneself to be tempted by new business opportunities. In 2011 Italy retained its fifth place in the rankings of France’s major suppliers and the country beyond the Alps represents the second outlet market for Italian exports, immediately after Germany. What is more, last year there was a marked increase in the export of wine and food products bound for France, equal to 10% no less. But there are still ample margins within in which to do more and trade fairs such as Sial are the best occasions for strengthening existing trade relations and create new ones.
The 2010 edition of this prestigious event was attended by 136,381 sector specialists, 62% of which came from foreign countries and provided the evidence that interest in this trade fair goes decisively beyond the France’s borders. Exhibitors numbered 5700 representing 106 countries. Expectations for the 2012 edition are very high and there is a desire to be able to do so much better. Italian food and wine products want to show themselves off and they are ready to take on the challenge, introducing themselves even to those who are not very familiar with the country. The Italian pavilion turn out to be an excellent discovery, with its aromas and flavours that render it one of a kind, along with the customary politeness of the Belpaese team who are ready to provide all the information required and with whom it will be possible to have fruitful bilateral meetings. But Sial 2012 is also a moment for strengthening existing relationships, between those who already know one another and are already doing business but who want to bolster their contacts. In short, goodness goes on show and the goal is to create business. That is why, it has even started, this event is already creating excitement amongst those companies taking part and who are ready to show off their products
