THE GREAT PASTRY MAKERS AND THE ITALIAN ICE CREAM PROTAGONISTS IN RIMINI
Ice creams, artisan desserts, every type of bread and coffee. This is what Sigep 2014 is all about, the “great home of the artisan dessert”, now in its 35th edition.
The international exhibition of the leading ice cream, pastry and artisan bread makers all over the world will take place in Rimini from 18th to 22nd of next January and, on this occasion, Ice Agenzia and Riminifiera will host around thirty professionals from Australia, Canada, China, the United States and South Africa.
In Riminifiera’s space there will be more than one thousand enterprises, occupying all sixteen available stands. It will be possible for people to get to know all secrets about ice cream making and artisan desserts, which are the epitome of the food industry Made in Italy, thanks to the overall presentation of all ingredients, products, technologies, decor and services, and to the international competitions aimed at global excellence. In Italy there are about 28,000 ice cream makers, with a turnover of 2.5 billion euro and about 150,000 trained employees.
In the confectionary sector, Italy boasts a culture and tradition that are recognised throughout the world and will attract thousands of visitors.
This year’s edition is expected to be a record breaker, in the wake of the last five editions that saw the number of professional visitors increase from 92,000 in 2009 to almost 145,000 in January 2013.
An impetuous type of progress that also concerns the foreign component: there were 16,000 international professionals in 2009 while in the last edition there were 26,000.
Among the organised events, there are the highly anticipated World Cup of Ice Cream Makers, with 12 participating countries, the second edition of The Pastry Queen, the world championship of women pastry makers, with 11 contestants from five continents; The Star of Chocolate, the competition dedicated to chocolate; the Italian Bartenders Championships (South Hall); the Italian Junior and Senior Pastry Makers Championships; and Bread Art with the very best in Italian bread making.
The foreign delegation, selected by Ice, represents an accurate choice of professionals that will be hosted, attended to and looked after during the entire event.
These are specialised buyers selected from all over the world, with special attention to developing areas such as China and South Africa, but also developed countries such as the United States.
Great interest has been shown, above all from buyers of the hospitality sector and international catering, which holds Italy as one of the countries with the most important heritage of excellence in the confectionary sector.
Riminifiera will also prepare an “International Lounge” where the professionals will be hosted during the exhibition and where there will be an Ice Office and an assistance desk for enterprises; there Trade Analysts from Canada, China and the United States will offer exhibitors information regarding access to their relative markets. Meetings will also be organised between foreign professionals and exhibiting enterprises.
