MADE IN ITALY CERAMICS GOES TO ASIA
Imaginative collections, fantastic features and infinite possibilities for use. These are Italian ceramics' vital statistics, a sector which is especially popular in the luxury and high-end segment abroad. It will be possible to learn more about them during one of the sector's most important international fairs, the one which decides "home trends" at the international level.
A very select Italian group will be exhibiting for the second time under the Ceramics of Italy mark of excellence during the Maison & Objet Asia fair 2016 which will be held from 8 to 11 March in Singapore. This initiative is being taken with the assistance of Confindustria Ceramica, a branch of the General Confederation of Italian Industry. The group comprises 22 companies which demonstrate Made in Italy's excellence in this sector. 90% of the group are from the well-known industrial district around Sassuolo, a fact which confirms this very dynamic area's established reputation for know how and capacity for innovation.
After the huge success of the Parisian Maison & Objet, which was held this January, the Asian edition of this important fair will be an opportunity for international operators in the world of interior design to learn much more about the best the Italian tile and ceramic sanitary ware sectors have to offer. Professionals, architects, interior designers, interior decorators, importers and distributors from all over the world will have an opportunity to discover the quality and innovative excellence of Italian manufacturing. A wide variety of products from the latest collections will be on show, offering a complete overview of the sector.
One sector, that of ceramic tiles, demonstrates its vitality on the international market: by the end of 2015 this Italian industry had exports of 320 million square meters (+1.8%) and stable sales on the domestic market of 81 million square meters (-0.3%). Amongst the areas that showed the best performance were the Far East (+7.2%), NAFTA countries (+6.3%), the Gulf countries (+5.5%) and the Balkan area (+3.7%). Within the Asean area, where the high-end consumer goods category is offering plenty of opportunities for products intended for the home environment (in finishing touches, furniture or construction) Italian produce is positioning itself in the high-end and luxury categories.
The Maison & Objet fair is held twice a year in Paris (in January and September). It will be held in Singapore from 8 to 11 March, 2016 and in Miami in May. With nearly 3,200 exhibitors, 55% of whom are of international origin, and an area of over 250 thousand sq m, the Paris edition had more than 78 thousand visitors last year. It has a great deal on offer including interior decoration, from the contemporary to the classic, plus the world of accessories, for the table and for the kitchen, and textiles, ethno chic, luxury and designer goods.
