THE ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY OF THE ITALIAN AIR FORCE FLIES TO CHILE FOR FIDAE 2016
This is a crucial appointment for the entire aerospace industry. Over the last 35 years, FIDAE has become the most important and comprehensive exhibition for the aerospace, defence and security markets in the Americas. The event will be held from March 29th to April 3rd at the "Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez" Airport in Santiago, and represents a real business platform as well as a genuine gateway into the market in the region. The exhibition covers the entire aerospace industry, including the sectors of civil aviation, defence, maintenance services, airport equipment, space technology and homeland security.
It will provide a unique opportunity to discover the excellence of Italian production in the aircraft and spacecraft sectors, with a collective organised by ICE (the Italian Trade Promotion Agency), in collaboration with AIAD, the Italian Industries Federation for Aerospace, Defence and Security. The Italian participation in FIDAE Santiago will showcase the country's aerospace industry, with a particular focus on niche markets, projects and processes: an area where Italian companies lead in terms of competitiveness and innovative capacity. These are highly specialised small and medium enterprises, which have developed an industrial platform based on applications, products and processes able to respond appropriately to foreign demand. Eight of the top Italian aerospace and defence companies have been chosen for the collective. They have been allocated a space of about 120 square metres, divided between stands and an open area with an official meeting point.
The Italian aerospace industry is one of the country's prime sectors, ranking as the fourth player in Europe and seventh in the world. With an overall turnover of about 18 billion Euros, the industry employs a total workforce of 64,000, of which 52,000 work in the aeronautics and space sectors. The drive towards innovation is clear, with the sector's investment in research and development amounting to 15% of total turnover.
The FIDAE event alternates on a biennial basis with the LAAD fair in Rio de Janeiro, representing an important occasion for the whole of Latin America. It therefore offers a vital opportunity to learn about the best of the Italian aerospace industry, to conclude agreements, and to watch business opportunities materialise. The fair takes place in three themed pavilions: one dedicated to civil aviation, one to the aerospace industry, and the third to Chile, the host country. This year, there will be a special area dedicated to the signing of trade agreements. On Saturday April 2nd and Sunday 3rd, the fair will open its doors to the general public with an air show, featuring demonstration flights and an exhibition by aerobatic teams.
