FROM MODENA TO THE WORLD: SLIMTECH ULTRA-THIN SLABS
A slab which is extremely thin, but which can also be a record size, measuring up to 3 metres by one metre: this is Slimtech, one of the flagship products of Lea Ceramiche , a company in the Modena ceramic district with a presence in over 80 countries and 5 continents.
The Slimtech slabs are able to combine lightness with large size thanks to a particularly innovative technology.
This involves laminating and compacting (under 15,000-ton pressure) a form of porcelain stoneware composed of clay and carefully selected raw materials.
The slabs are baked in innovative, environmentally-friendly ovens, developed by the research and know-how of the Panariagroup.
The result is a new type of product: one which is durable, lightweight, and flexible, usable indoors and out, and resistant to stains and chemicals.
The ease of cutting and installation also facilitates replacement, with excellent aesthetic results and a low total cost.
There are three types of Slimtech slabs available in the Lea Ceramiche catalogue: Slimtech 3mm, the thinnest version, is only used for wall coverings, while Slimtech 3plus 3.5mm, reinforced with fibreglass matting, is suitable for both walls and floors.
The latest addition is Slimtech 5plus 5.5mm, designed for commercial and technical areas with heavy use and footfall, such as shopping malls, airports, health facilities, and the lobbies of public buildings.
In contrast to the thinner versions, this 5.5 mm thickness allows the surface to be worked on in various ways, carrying out surface treatments such as mirror sanding, engraving on multiple levels and structured finishing.
In general, the SLIMTECH line is used in the building sector, offering the possibility of creating ventilated walls, thermal coatings or raised floors.
The Lea Slimtech slabs are particularly suitable for this last application, due to their large size.
The raised floors allow maximum flexibility in the distribution of space and in the arrangement of work-stations in offices.
They are particularly suitable for work environments where there is a constant increase in the quantity of technical equipment and systems (electric, telephone, or computer networks, heating and air-conditioning systems).
The Slimtech 100 X 100 cm raised flooring consists of a combination of panels each supported on 9 small feet.
The panels are designed to have high mechanical strength and fire resistance, and excellent sound-absorbent qualities with minimal dispersion of impact noise. As an additional option, a patented and certified vibration-damping cushion is also available, designed to reduce the noise transmitted between the layers of flooring.
In the context of furnishings, the slabs are particularly suitable for covering the walls of saunas, for the surfaces of kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes and doors, but also for tables and furniture in general. In addition, Lea Ceramiche has launched a project called LeaLab, designed for creative uses and special installations.
This allows you to print any image onto the laminated stoneware in high definition, with very good quality results in terms of colour.
The main markets for these projects and products include, in addition to Italy, the USA, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Korea and Japan.
Over the years, Lea Ceramiche has proved to be the company in the Panaria group to have undergone the most significant transformation, and thanks to constant, large investments in quality and innovation, it has now become one of the most prestigious firms in the world of ceramic industry.
