ITALIAN SECURITY ON SHOW IN DUBAI

Roma (Ign) - A show entirely dedicated to security in all its various manifestations. Between 21 and 23 January, in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, there will be hosted the 9th edition of"INTERSEC MIDDLE EAST 2007 (www.intersecexpo.com), which will be held at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre: the most important appointment in the area for the sector. The last edition saw the presence of 422 exhibitors, coming from over 40 countries, and 7650 visitors. Once again, this year the show will be divided into thematic areas: commercial security, antiterrorism, fire prevention and safety. An Italy System will also be present at the fair, organised by the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE), bringing together 15 participating companies.
Market indications show increasing attention to security technologies: in the global village the dangers from external threats have multiplied. And in Italy the expense, for the computer security of private individuals alone, in 2007 will reach the figure of €1.26 billion billion, while the Ministry of Communications will spend a figure of between €5m and €10m next year. On the other hand, security also affects competitiveness. The companies that deal with all-round security in Italy are a few thousand, and invest in a whole range of products: from security systems, individual protection, accident prevention, fire prevention and fall prevention, to wireless alarm systems including gates for homes, anti-theft systems for shops and software for preventing industrial espionage.
Within the internationalisation project affecting the ICT sector, also the Chambers of Commerce of Turin, in agreement with Torino Wireless and the Foreign Trade Office of the Piedmont Chambers of Commerce, will be present at the next edition of Intersec Dubai. The Piedmont stand, of 15 square metres - situated in the area of commercial security - will offer companies a place where they can offer visitors promotional material and organise business meetings. It is a way to give visibility to the companies of the region which developed in the business incubator of the prestigious Politecnico di Torino and which today offer the market the most advanced systems for the protection of mobile communications.
The high-tech district of Turin in fact originated in a geographical area in which there exists a dynamic exchange between research and industrial development in the territory, and where the knowledge and skills in universities and research institutes are developed in the field: there are over 2000 researchers (almost 20% of the Italian total) working in ICT, of which 700 in wireless technologies, business incubators and a series of leading companies in ICT at an international level, in addition to 6000 small and medium-sized enterprises. Among these, there are various companies working in all the fields of security, both public and private. One of these companies is in fact responsible for the 'encryptophone', the mobile phone that makes it possible to encrypt the text of conversations, making tapping impossible.
