MIDDLE EAST ELECTRICITY: ITALY LIGHTS UP DUBAI
Rome - (Ign) - Over 800 exhibitors in 25,000 square metres, 18 official participations and 10,000 visitors. All this is Middle East Electricity - Exhibition & Conference 2007 (www.middleeastel ectricity.com/), the fair dedicated to electrical and electronic plant engineering, lighting and lighting technology and the energy sector in general (from production to transport). The show, now in its 32nd edition, will be held in Dubai, at the prestigious International Exhibition Center, from 11 to 14 February, and professionals from all over the world are expected: from Saudi Arabia to Canada, not to mention China, Korea, France, USA and Italy.
For Italy, the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE), has organized a collective participation to allow businesses to exhibit their products in an area of 700 square metres divided into 9 islands situated in the third hall. The companies will be able to count on a series of services essential for full exploitation of the event, not least advertisements in the local trade press and more in general a special advertising campaign.
The event, given its importance above all for emerging markets for Italian products - such as the Middle East - may turn out to be fundamental in the light of possible bilateral partnerships or as a way of attracting foreign investments. This is above all true for those sectors which, like electronics, played a major role in the overall growth of turnover (+3.3%) witnessed by the industrial production system in 2006. So much so, that according to forecasts, in the 2007-2008 period, the electronic and electrotechnical sectors will see growth of 9.6% and 7.6% respectively, also thanks to their progress on the markets of Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean. According to analysts, the behaviour of Italian industry towards marketplaces such as the United States and Canada is also vital, since these countries could turn out to be excellent industrial partners.
Electrotechnics finished 2005 with an upward trend: figures published by Anie (the national federation of electrotechnical and electronic businesses) - (www.anie.it) show a 5% increase compared to 1.2% in the macro industrial area. There are all the signs of significant growth: energy recorded +15% while railway and electrified transport +24.6%. And the good health of the sector is also reflected in exports, seeing that foreign sales rose by +4.1%. Results in the energy market were particularly impressive: production, also in 2005, continued to follow an upwards trend with an increase in sales of 32.2%, while the transmission sector rose by 10.9%, also and above all thanks to exports (+188%). Distribution, meanwhile, ended 2% up, but exports saw an impressive leap of 18.1% thanks to trade relationships with EU countries, but also with Asian markets.
In other words, there is great potential for a future as a market leader, and thanks to Middle East Electricity, Dubai could be an excellent springboard, both for new companies engaged in the process of internationalization and for those already well known, that could initiate policies of intercommercial exchange with prestigious partners. This, then, is an opportunity to reach out to the target markets of Italian products as well as to find new ones.
