NEW GLASS-MAKING MACHINES SHOWCASED AT GLASS BUILD AMERICA 2007

Maintaining American companies' attention to Italian products, especially towards the most recent innovations in the glass-manufacturing machinery sector, was the Italian Trade Commission's (ICE) objective in organising an official delegation to the Glass Build America 2007 fair (www.glassbuildamerica.com), which will take place on 10-12 September in the World Congress Center in Atlanta. The glass-manufacturing machinery sector had a turnover of 1.24 billion euros in 2006 (with an export quota towards the U.S. alone up from 12.25% in 2005 to 14.64%) and enjoys a very strong international trend, with total exports valued at 893 million euros (+5% from 2005).
For the past six editions ICE has led an official Italian delegation to the American event, together with GIMAV (www.gimav.it), the industry's trade association. Thirteen companies are expected to take part this year. The Italian presence at Glass Build also aims to support agents and distributors operating on the American market and, although on a smaller scale, those who operate in Central and South America.
The fair, which was organised directly by the National Glass Association, the sector's umbrella organisation in the U.S., is geared towards machinery and accessories manufacturers and towards suppliers of technology for crafting flat glass. This is the most important fair in North America for the flat glass industry, including machinery to accessories. The fair takes place every two years: this year there will be approximately 490 exhibitors and over 10,000 visitors are expected.
Particular attention has been given to the layout of exhibition area of the Italian delegation (roughly over 800 square metres). This offers two great advantages for the exhibiting companies: visibility for the machines (also in movement) and the possibility for visitors to move easily around the machinery.
Information support and assistance to foreign visitors, as well as communications devices for participating companies, will also be provided in the Italian pavilion, which will feature a Service Centre managed jointly by the ICE and GIMAV. Brochures and information on the sector and on the companies will also be distributed.
The catalogue featuring the Italian collective (together with a brief description of the sector in Italy and a presentation of the ICE and GIMAV) will also contain contacts for the American market.
