“Sistema Italia”, a showcase of books, catalogues and multimedia products

The Italian Trade Commission announces Italy’s official participation at ACTFL 2009 with “Sistema Italia”, a showcase of books, catalogues and multimedia products from the following 8 publishers and 3 language schools. The 43rd edition will be held from November 20th to the 22nd in San Diego, California and is the only national convention in the United States for the teaching of foreign languages. 250 exhibitors will participate and over 5,000 foreign language professionals are expected.

The Italian Pavilion, # 1813, at the San Diego Convention Center, will include the Italian Trade Commission, the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles and the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles in Booth 1818, COPILAS - Council for the Promotion of Italian Language in American Schools in Booth 1816, AATI - American Association of Teachers of Italian in Booth 1814 and ACL - American Classic League in Booth 1812). Visitors to the Italian Pavilion will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from Accademia Italiana, Alma, Cideb-Black Cat, Edilingua Edizioni, Guerra Edizioni, The Language Center – La Lingua La Vita and Sorrento Lingue Institute.
According to the U.S. Department of Commerce (Bureau of Census), in 2008 Italy was among the major foreign suppliers of books, newspapers and other printed matter, exporting $110 million of products, in particular dictionaries, encyclopedias, bibles, newspapers and journals.
The Italian Trade Commission is the government agency entrusted with promoting trade, industrial and technological cooperation, and disseminating economic information regarding Italy abroad. The Chicago Office maintains and regularly updates its publishing website.
