INNOVATION FOR INSULATION AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY: THERMOKAPPA BRICKS BY DANESI

To make an energy-efficient building, insulation is not the only factor that must be considered. The thermal inertia of the walls, i.e. the capacity to accumulate and release heat, is also important. This is the focus of the innovative bricks from the Thermokappa range, the high-technology line made by the new company Danesi LatertechTm, dedicated to the development and production of very high quality and performance bricks solutions. Aside from guaranteeing excellent thermal insulation values, unlike with other materials on the market, brickwork done with Thermok blocks has a significant frontal mass that is capable of accumulating and releasing heat, enabling it to muffle peaks in external temperature and diffuse them over time.
Danesi LatertechTm, which is part of the Fornaci Laterizi Danesi group (www.danesilaterizi.it), concentrates its activities on research and the development of innovative products, with cutting-edge laboratories and production lines and a single object: to develop and produce high-performance bricks that are in keeping with standards and have excellent levels of quality. Thermok30 and Thermok24 are porous brick blocks. Their characteristic shape features special holes in which Neopor or cork inserts are fitted during the last phase of their quality-guaranteed production process, in order to ensure their levels of energy efficiency, breathability, naturalness and durability.
The path leading to the Danesi LatertechTm company started in 1955, the year in which Luigi and Celestino Danesi founded the “Fornaci Laterizi Danesi” (Danesi Brick Furnaces) in Soncino, in the province of Cremona, in the heart of Lombardy. The province was driving the large-scale industrial development and impressive reconstruction work that gave rise to the “construction boom” in the 1970s, which changed the face of Italian cities and their surroundings. By adopting the technological innovations in the sector, Danesi became a large production reality that began to conquer other markets in the north of Italy from the early 1970s. This strategy led it in 1980 to acquire its second furnace, the Casella Braga in the province of Brescia, completely restructuring all its sections, to extend its influence to markets in eastern Lombardy and Veneto. In 1999 the two companies merged to create the Gruppo Danesi, which soon afterwards formed a strategic partnership with Rdb in Piacenza. Its market was thereby expanded to the other regions of northern Italy: Liguria, Piemonte and Emilia Romagna, an objective also reached through Danesi’s acquisition of two new plants from Rdb: Casei Gerola, in the province of Pavia, and Lugagnano Val d’Arda, in the province of Piacenza. The company invested large resources in these plants for restructuring and the attainment of high quality standards.
