RIMADESIO - INNOVATION FROM A TO Z WITH A MADE IN ITALY LABEL
A brand name with a hint of innovation. Because technology and research are to be found not just in the product but also in the management of spaces, the relationship with clients and suppliers and in the company’s organisation. So it is that Rimadesio , a company founded in 1956 and now located in the new, twenty-one thousand square metre industrial complex of Giussano (Monza Brianza), began working with glass in the pursuit of innovation. Today it is in a position to supply an extensive range of systems for the partitioning of internal spaces: doors; sliding panels; bookshelves; walk-in wardrobes and tables. All most meticulously designed with an obvious sensitivity towards the environment - aluminium and glass are 100% recyclable.
But research and innovation (that represent 3% of turnover and in 2011 almost touched €1 million) are also in the organisation. Rimadesio, in fact, offers it own dealers a highly efficient computerised system as Davide Malberti, Rimadesio SpA’s CEO explains: “By using our software a dealer can offer a custom made product, employing all the unique options included in this most modern of company production systems. Eighty-five different finishes for structures and safety glasses, sized to the millimetre of the product and hundreds of different accessories.” The software, developed using a Windows platform, is provided free of charge to all dealers and simultaneously handles the entire range ensuring the maximum modularity, which is monitored by the manufacturing regulations established by Rimadesio. The project is then presented to the client by means of technical drawings, views and photo-realistic 3D browsing. “Thanks to the software installed on a dealer’s computer” says Malaberti “it becomes possible to obtain a totally integrated process, a fast, direct channel of communication between the sales outlets, the sales office and production, eliminating different stages, interpretations and manipulations that are often the cause of errors. Then, when it comes to sales, admin and logistics (prices, terms and conditions of sale etc) the technical progress of the order automatically inputs to the operating system and, thanks to dedicated converter, it generates works lists and parts-programs in and ISO format that is compatible with all types of digitally operated machine.”
Technology is therefore a key element in all of Rimadesio's production phases and not simply the product’s design stage. Going on to speak about innovative products, Malaberti quotes Abacus: “It is a programme for daytime and night time areas that is totally interfaced with the glass and aluminium production systems. Heights, widths and colour ranges that are custom-made, thanks to the software that allows the utmost customisation for each accessory. The service and flexibility of the product are vital.”
It’s a prize-winning formula for the company, which employs 112 people and that in 2011 recorded an increase in its net profits of 180% over the preceding year, whilst operating income rose by 224%, going from €700 thousand in 20120 to more than €2.4 million and marks a return to pre-crisis levels. This has certainly not been an easy year for the furnishing sector closely associated with the property market. In 2011 sales once again topped €30 million and exports exceeded 40%. The countries of reference are Russia, USA, Brazil, Germany and the Far East, where turnover rose by 23% compared to a domestic increase of 5%. Performances of particular interest were recorded in Brazil, Russia, India, China and Central-Eastern Europe (Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Ukraine) which on average has grown by 70%. What is more the single-brand stores are expanding relentlessly and following Bilbao, Warsaw and Istanbul, which opened in 2011, it was the turn of São Paulo and the 800sqm flagship store that opened in the heart of Milan during design week in 2012. These new launches will be followed shortly by openings in Belo Horizonte, Brasilia and Beirut.
